SAN DIEGO – Crews had a difficult time battling a fire at a house under construction in Pacific Beach Monday evening.

The two-story house on Cardeno Drive across from Archer Street just south of La Jolla caught fire around 9:15 p.m., the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.

The driveway leading to the house was too steep and narrow for a fire truck to access the house, a witness told Fox 5.  Crews were seen walking up the driveway, carrying equipment up to the house.

Several fire trucks and San Diego police units responded to the fire.

The cause was under investigation.
