Gas leak prompts evacuations in La Jolla

Coronado Gas LeakLA JOLLA, Calif. – A construction crew working near Bird Rock struck a gas line, which prompted authorities to evacuate two houses as a precaution, fire officials said.

The leak was reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Alta La Jolla Drive near Caminito Cardelina, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

No one was injured, a fire dispatcher said.

A San Diego Gas & Electric crew was dispatched to the scene, the dispatcher said.
