SAN DIEGO – The search continued Saturday for a missing 79-year-old Serra Mesa woman who disappeared after leaving her home earlier this week, police said.

Mehria Mansury was last seen Tuesday morning at her home in the 2800 block of Amulet Street, above a canyon north of Mission Valley, according to San Diego police.

MehraMansuryPolice officers and search teams with dogs began combing hillsides around Qualcomm Stadium Friday in hopes of finding Mansury. A command post remained in the stadium’s parking lot today, although the search may have included other areas, police said.

Family members do not believe Mansury would have wandered off from her home and purposefully left her family behind. They know her to be a woman of sound mind and judgment.

“I think something odd had to have happened and something`s being covered up,” said Mansury’s great-nephew Andre Katawazi.

Neighbors and other family members said there was trouble at the home Mansury shared with her grown daughter. They said the woman disapproved of the type of people her daughter was bringing to the house. Neighbors described an unpleasant crowd coming and going from the garage.

Mansury was described as a 5-foot-1-inch, roughly 140-pound Middle Eastern woman with brown hair and brown eyes.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the location of Mehria Mansury to call the S.D.P.D. Homicide Unit – Adult Missing Persons Section at (619) 531-2293 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Anonymous email and text messages can be sent online.
