Pacific Beach preschool vandalized; reward offered

crime sceneSAN DIEGO – San Diego police asked for the public’s help Friday in identifying vandals who poured a black tar-like substance over a preschool playground in Pacific Beach, causing more than $5,000 in damage.

The vandalism occurred at the Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church’s preschool at 1675 Garnet Ave. sometime between Sept. 13 and the morning of Sept. 15, according to police.

A five-gallon bucket containing more of the tar-like substance was found nearby, police said. The motive was unclear.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Tipsters are encouraged to call its anonymous tip line at (888) 580-TIPS.
