Man stabbed in possible gang related assault

knife-webSAN DIEGO — A man stabbed repeatedly in the chest Saturday was recuperating Sunday as police investigated the possibility that the incident was gang related.

At 10:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of an injured man at the 200 block of Marketplace Avenue, in southeast San Diego, San Diego Police Sgt. L. Taylor said.

“They located a Hispanic man, 25, with stab wounds to his torso,” Taylor said. “The victim was taken to a local trauma center for treatment.”

The stabbing victim was not publicly identified, and there was no suspect description given.

San Diego police gang unit was investigating the incident, near Interstate 805 at Imperial Avenue.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
