Car runs down elderly woman in crosswalk

ambulanceNightSAN DIEGO — An 80-year-old woman was hospitalized Friday with serious head injuries, a broken pelvis and a broken wrist after being struck by a car in Clairemont Mesa, police said.

The woman was struck while in a crosswalk at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Rolfe Road about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Officer David Stafford.

The driver, a 33-year-old woman, was not likely to face charges, he said in a statement.
