SDG&E customers without power in rural East County

sdgeSAN DIEGO – About 1,000 people in rural East County were without power Monday afternoon, officials reported.

The communities affected were Dulzura, Poterro, Campo, Japatul Valley, Buckman Springs, Morena Village, Live Oak Springs, Boulevard and Jacumba, according the San Diego Gas and Electric’s outage map.

SDG&E said the cause of the outage that happened at 2:30 p.m. could be a number of factors.

“We have determined that a combination of factors has caused a problem in the electric system,” SDGE said.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the areas north and east of Pine Valley, including the areas with the power outage.

Power was expected to be restored just after 5 p.m. Monday.
