knife-webSAN DIEGO — A 26-year-old man was stabbed in the chest early Friday and a 25-year-old man was slashed in the arm in a fight in Clairemont over recyclables, police said.

A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the violence, which occurred in the 3400 block of Ogalala Avenue just after midnight, according to San Diego police Sgt. Leticia Taylor.

The male suspect stabbed the 26-year-old, then fled on foot but was later taken into custody, and the younger victim was stabbed by the female suspect, Taylor said in a statement.

Both victims were expected to survive, though the man stabbed in the chest was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, Taylor said.

All four people were arguing over picking recyclables out of trash containers, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said, without elaboration.
