WEB-Gass-4thSAN DIEGO — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell 1 cent Wednesday to $4.029, one day after a seven- day streak of dropping prices ended when it was unchanged.

The average price has dropped 8.6 cents over the past nine days and is 7.8 cents less than one week ago, but 5 cents more than one month ago and 31 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The dropping pump prices follow a large decrease in wholesale gasoline prices as fears of a shortage disappeared, according to Marie Montgomery Nordhues of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
