powerOutage3SAN DIEGO — A power outage left several thousand homes and businesses without electrical service Tuesday afternoon in Normal Heights, North Park and University Heights.

The blackout struck for unknown reasons about 1 p.m., initially affecting about 2,700 addresses, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

Within two hours, crews had restored service to about 1,400 of the affected customers, SDG&E reported.

Service was expected to be fully restored to the areas by shortly after 7 p.m., according to the utility.

The cause of the problem was under investigation.
