vara at KSON Country FestLAKESIDE, Calif. – What happens when you mix great country music, a few cold beverages of choice and summer heat? A night to remember.

The Lakeside Rodeo grounds were packed Saturda night for KSON’s Country Fest. I was one of the many who attended.

Tyler Farr opened the night followed by Craig Campbell, Brett Eldredge, Chris Cagle, and finally Joe Nichols took the stage giving fans a memorable night.

Unfortunately, I missed Farr’s performance and he sings my favorite country song right now “Redneck Crazy!”

I hung out with Farr backstage and I tried to squeeze his arm to get him to sing the song, but to no avail.  He did manage to say a line or two, but I guess that’s all I was gonna get.

The boys work hard on stage, but after the show Eldredge and Farr hung out on their tour bus cracking jokes and spending time with their group of stage friends.  And, to be honest, being a fly on the wall was a treat.  They play board games, hang out and tell stories before they hit the road and head to the next city.  Ah, life on the road.

On a side note, Nichols brought his wife and two daughters to San Diego for this trip, and that was a good call!  I chatted with his oldest daughter, Ashland, who said she was excited to go to the San Diego Zoo. While most singers get up and go, it’s nice to see Joe got the chance to have a little family time while in America’s Finest City.

Once again, KSON nailed this event–giving all of us country music lovers a chance to enjoy a fun day listening to the best tunes out there.

Until the next one…..
