Man accused of torching car to protest eviction

arsonVISTA, Calif. — Arraignment is scheduled Friday for a 64-year-old man accused of intentionally setting his vehicle on fire in front of an Encinitas hotel because he was upset about his impending eviction from the venue.

Jonathan Summers was arrested on suspicion of arson at the Howard Johnson at 607 Leucadia Blvd. about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Norton.

No injuries were reported.

Why Summers was being evicted was not disclosed.
