Hundreds of firefighters battled Ramona blaze

RAMONA, Calif. — Firefighters battled a wildfire that scorched about 15 open acres near Ramona Sunday, fire officials said.

CalFire-TruckThe fire off state Route 78 near Boden Canyon was reported about 12:10 p.m. and was spreading at a moderate rate, according to Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler.

Several hundred firefighters from CalFire and other agencies from throughout the county were working to extinguish the fire both from the ground and from the air, Mohler said.

The cause of the so-called Boden fire had yet to be determined, according to Mohler.

No injuries were reported, he said.
