POWAY, Calif. – An undercover investigation into allegations of prostitution activity at three businesses in Poway led to the arrests of six female employees on suspicion of various offenses, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Sheriff’s officials and the North County Human Trafficking Task Force conducted the undercover operation Friday afternoon at the Silky Massage, Hai Tee Acupuncture and the Healing Touch on a stretch of Poway Road, sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Duckworth said.
Sheriff’s officials began looking into the activities at the businesses after receiving reports that a large number of men had visited the massage parlors throughout the day and night over the last several weeks, Duckworth said. The sheriff’s department also received reports alleging prostitution was occurring at the businesses, he said.
During the undercover sting, law enforcement personnel contacted five male patrons, who were interviewed then released, Duckworth said. They were not arrested.
A 39-year-old woman from Monterey Park and a 32-year-old woman from San Gabriel were arrested for suspicion of unlawful touching and municipal code violations at the Silky Massage, and at Hai Tee Acupuncture a 56-year-old Monterey Park woman was arrested for suspicion of unlawful touching and a 39-year-old San Diego woman for alleged municipal code violations.
Two Oceanside women, 50 and 47, were arrested at the Healing Touch, one for suspicion of municipal code violations and the other for suspicion of prostitution solicitation.
All six were later released on their written promise to appear in court, Duckworth said.
