SAN DIEGO — A 43-year-old fugitive child molestation suspect was in custody Tuesday following his arrest near a Tierrasanta day care center, authorities said.

fugitive-arrestedTony Lee Burleson Sr. was arrested in a parking lot in the 6000 block of Santo Road about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. James Bolwerk. San Diego police were called to the parking lot to investigate a report of a suspicious person, he said in a statement.

Once there, officers found Burleson asleep in a yellow Hummer SUV and identified him as someone named in an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of one felony count of oral copulation involving a minor, according to jail records.

Burleson’s alleged crime was tied to a child abuse case from Santee, sheriff’s Lt. Dave Brown said without elaboration.

Bolwerk said due to the nature of the case, limited details would be released to the public.
