Man arrested in attempted abduction in Bonita

BONITA, Calif. – A man suspected of attempting to kidnap a teenaged girl near Glen Abbey Cemetery Monday morning was in custody, sheriff’s said.

The alleged attempted abduction happened in the 3200 block of Bonita Road around 11 a.m., San Diego Sheriff’s Sgt. D.M. Ting said.

bonita attempted kidnappingA teen was allegedly groped by a man and was able to fight him off, Ting said.  She flagged down a driver, jumped in the car and reported the incident to authorities.

Deputies found the suspect in an area with heavy vegetation and arrested him, sergeant said.

The victim told investigators that she feared the suspect intended to pull her into bushes and sexually assault her, Ting said.

The suspect was described as a black man from El Cajon in his 20s, 6-feet, 1-inch tall with brown eyes and hair.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect’s name was not immediately available, Lt. Mario Zermeno said.
