ESCONDIDO, Calif. — Authorities locked down Escondido High School Thursday for about an hour receiving reports  of someone walking on campus with a gun and gunfire, police said.

Someone reported seeing  a male wearing a trench coat at the school with a BB gun at about 10 a.m., a police dispatcher said. Another caller reported hearing  gunfire and would not give his name, police said.

Students and staffers were kept in classrooms and offices, while officers fanned out across the campus at 1535 N. Broadway, but they found no sign of a gun or shooting at or near the campus. Authorities gave an all-clear shortly after 11 a.m., and the school returned to normal operations.
