Otay Lakes ReservoirCHULA VISTA, Calif. — The death of a 16-year-old girl found at the base of a dam in southern San Diego County has been ruled a suicide by the county medical examiner.

The ruling came after an autopsy by the medical examiner and an investigation by the Sheriff’s Department into the girl’s disappearance from the family home in Chula Vista.

Reyna Carolina Genel was reported missing by her family on Monday. Hours later, her badly injured body was found at the base of the Upper Otay Lakes Dam. She was airlifted by helicopter to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Graffiti scrawled on the dam suggest the site is a common gathering place for teenagers. It is a 75-foot drop from the top of the dam to the base.

The medical examiner said the cause of death was blunt impact injuries to the head.

      Hey dummy,
I do not have all of the facts, other than what is in the propaganda news. But, it seems likely that if she went airborne off the top of the dam, than that might cause blunt injury the head.

it's not the fall, it's the sudden stop that kills ya.
yeaaa, she hit her head on the earth, and that, Anon?

      very sad.

Without a witness not sure how they could have known for sure it was a suicide and not a slip like another runner testified it would be prone to being slippery on hot days. That would make a big difference to her Catholic family if you've ever seen movies like Constantine.
