A ‘Sh*tty Mom’ Mother’s Day

I swear I’m not swearing.  I’m referring to a new parenting guide on the New York Times Best Seller’s list that’s been called “the most inappropriate parenting book I’ve ever read…”.    Yes, it’s called “Sh*tty Mom”, and yes, it’s overflowing with humorous anecdotes in those universal scenarios we parents can all relate to.  Case in point, the chapter dedicated to “How to Not Hear the Baby in the Middle of the Night”.

Mom-BookCo-authors of the book and longtime Today Show producers, Mary Ann Zoellner and Alicia Ybarbo, recently came on the 6 o’clock news with me to talk about it as the perfect Mother’s Day gift.  It’s an entertaining read to say the least, any parent should get a kick out of.  If mom is an avid reader – there you go.

I also describe it as a permission slip.  It gives moms the permission to be less than perfect and to laugh out loud at our daft attempts to come close.

Zoellner and Ybarbo also brought along some “Mother’s Day Must Haves” for all you still searching for that perfect way to say “thanks, Mom.”  (When really that’s all any of us want.)  The great thing about what they brought is that the items are all affordable and actually useful to busy moms.

I’ve posted some links below so you can check them out for yourself:
