Couple tied up during Hillcrest home invasion

crimeSAN DIEGO — A thin man wearing a black skull mask and armed with a pistol forced his way into a Hillcrest home Thursday afternoon, bound a man and woman and robbed them.

The thief, who was dressed in black clothing and appeared to be in his early to mid-20s, confronted the victims at the residence in the 1600 block of Brookes Avenue and threatened them with the gun shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

After tying up the pair and forcing them into a bathroom, the bandit stole the woman’s purse along with her companion’s cell phone and other electronics, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said. The robber then fled in an unknown direction.

The male victim suffered a small cut to his forehead during the crime, according to Cali. The woman was unhurt.
