SAN DIEGO – It’s the day when everybody is a little Irish and many in America’s Finest City celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all weekend. While there will be plenty of fun, local law enforcement agencies are cracking down on drunken drivers.
It’s part of special campaign for St. Patty’s Day weekend and officers and deputies are on high alert.
DUI checkpoints have been set up in Chula Vista, Encinitas, Imperial Beach, Lemon Grove, Poway and San Diego.
Thousands of cars passed through checkpoints Friday night. Eight people were arrested in Mission Bay, five in Oceanside, and one driver and in Lemon Grove and Poway.
