LOS ANGELES – A swarm of bees killed a 5-year-old female pit bull in North Hollywood, authorities confirmed over the weekend.

Bee swarm kills dogThe incident happened after a neighbor cut down a tree that  housed a hive in the Los Angeles neighborhood, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

The fire crews responded and sprayed foam to kill as many bees as possible, fire officials said.

“We’ve all got kids and dogs,” a neighbor told KTLA. “Luckily, they didn’t hurt any kids, but it’s terrible they hurt a dog.”

The owners, who declined to speak on camera to KTLA’s crew, said they never would have expected this.
