Man shot near university

VISTA, Calif. — A man was wounded in a shooting early Thursday near the National University Academy campus in Vista, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The shooting in the 2100 block of University Drive was reported about 12:30 a.m., sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Menzies said.

The victim was taken to Palomar Medical Center in serious condition, Menzies said.

No arrests were immediately reported, and no information was released regarding a suspect.

Menzies said sheriff’s personnel remained at the scene as dawn approached.
