La Mesa kidnap attemptLA MESA, Calif. — Police asked for the public’s help to find a man who tried to grab a 14-year-old girl as she rode her bicycle home in La Mesa.

The girl said she was riding her bike in the 8600 block of Dallas Street when the man jumped out of a parked vehicle near Nagel Street about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to La Mesa police Sgt. Police described the man as being of mixed race, possibly black and white. He appeared to be 20-30 years old, had a medium to stocky build and stood around 5 feet 8, according to the sergeant.

The man was last seen wearing a red and white jacket and black baseball cap with logo. The vehicle he jumped out of was a newer model medium-size pickup with a white camper shell, Richards said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call La Mesa police at 619-667-1400 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-TIPS.
