SAN DIEGO — Dense fog blanketed coastal areas and the far western valleys of San Diego County early Monday, reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less.

Commuters along portions of Interstates 5, 15 and 805 freeways ran into  pockets of reduced visibility, FOX 5 weathercaster Chrissy Russo reported. She cautioned motorists to slow down and use low beam headlights during their commute.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for coastal areas and the far western valleys until 9 a.m.
