bankRobberyPOWAY, Calif. – A young man made a failed attempt to rob a Poway bank, leaving empty-handed after a teller indicated that she had no cash to give him.

The would-be thief, who appeared to be in his late teens to mid-20s, entered the US Bank branch in the 12200 block of Scripps Poway Parkway shortly after 2:30 p.m., confronted the clerk and demanded money verbally and via a note he gave her, sheriff’s Sgt. Timothy Matzkiw said.

When the employee gestured that she had no currency at her desk, the man took back the written message and looked around the bank.

“Seeing no other tellers on duty, he turned around and walked out”, Matzkiw said.
