Fire at preschool under investigation

SAN DIEGO — Police say a fire that a fire at a preschool in Hillcrest may be arson.

The fire was reported at about 3 a.m. on Sunday at the Frist Unitarian Universalist Church on Arbor Drive.

Firefighters found flames pouring from a play yard at the back of the school when they arrived. They had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.

The amount of damage was not immediately known, but classes took place as usual on Monday.

The fire did no appear to be an act of vandalism and may have been started by someone who was trying to keep warm, according to a posting on the church’s website.
