LA JOLLA, Calif. – The new year started with dozens of daring San Diegans running, jumping and some tip-toeing into the ocean Tuesday morning.

About 100 people gathered around 10 a.m. at Kelogg Park in La Jolla Shores for the annual Polar Bear Plunge into the Pacific Ocean.
Some ran into the cold water while others dipped their toes into the shallow surf in the joy of the New Year.

Similar celebrations were done around the world.

    Why is it the only ones who participate are not the ones with bodies whom we want to see in a bathing suit? This looks like a pod of beached whales.

      The pictures are only a split second shot of a fun time with people come down with their friends. There are plenty of pictures of people "bodies whom we want to see". nice comment Idiot

    Mike- It was a fun time with a great variety of people who were out doing something fun not hurting anyone. Why so negative?
