Bus pulled from sinkhole in Oceanside

water main breakOCEANSIDE, Calif. – Crews pulled the city bus from a major sinkhole in Oceanside Wednesday morning after a water main break caused the street to collapse, officials said.

A North County Transit District bus driver escaped from the bus around 8 a.m. after the front end of the bus became lodged in the hole on Los Arbolitos Boulevard and El Camino Real, transportation officials told Fox 5.

Roads in the area experienced major flooding before Oceanside Water Department could turn off the water.

No one was reported injured and the driver was the only person the bus.

Water was expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Wednesday, but the streets would be closed for at least 24 hours for repairs.
