Woman killed in San Marcos apartment ID’d

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The name of a woman who died of several stab wounds in a San Marcos was identified by authorities Thursday.

Sheriff's Tape LineAntonia Marie Duran, 41, was found dead and her 8-year-old daughter assaulted Wednesday around 3 a.m. at the 400 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road apartment, sheriff’s officials said.

Homicide detectives took Daniel Hernandez, 28, into custody at his home about 4:15 p.m., according to Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said

Medics took the girl to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego where she underwent surgery, Giannantonio said.  She was listed in stable condition Wednesday.

Authorities did not release details on the nature of the assaults.

    "Assaulted?" I assume they mean "battered?" To quote Wikipedia: "In law, assault is a crime that involves causing a victim to apprehend violence. The term is often confused with battery, which involves physical contact."
