SAN DIEGO – Wet weather wreaked havoc Thursday flooding roads and businesses throughout San Diego.

Several cars were towed from Midway Drive and Rosecrans Street after stalling in the flooded intersection.  The San Diego River overflowed causing traffic backups near Fashion Valley Mall.

Mission Beach cafe owner Justin Welfeld woke up to find his business flooded with storm water.  He spent hours using a 5-gallon bucket to bail water out of his shop.

“I forget to put out the sand bags last night. They do a great job of blocking the water from the inside of the building,” said Welfeld.  “Now that they are here it won’t be an issue.”

Another storm is expected to hit San Diego Thursday night.

Drivers are advised to avoid areas known to flood.  Authorities suggested that motorists should not drive through the flooded areas.
