Active-duty military members and veterans can catch a free ride on North County Transit District buses and trains Friday through Monday.

The promotion in honor of Veterans Day is a show of gratitude, the agency said.

Family members will be allowed to ride for half-fare.

The North County Transit District also will unveil a specially wrapped Coaster train car that will ride the rails for one year.

It displays uniformed servicemen and women giving salutes.

“As a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, I fully understand how meaningful it is to have the support and backing of the community,” said
Supervisor Bill Horn, the vice-chairman of the NCTD Board of Directors.

`Through the free weekend and the train wrap, North County Transit is telling each and every member of the military in San Diego how much we appreciate their service and value their commitment.”
