Kristy Wolski

Fox 5 San Diego Reporter Kristy WolskiI can’t say I always wanted to be in broadcasting, but I always wanted to be a journalist. I was the editor of my high school newspaper and headed off to the University of Florida with plans for a degree in print journalism.

During my freshman year I decided to change majors.  After working for my college TV station WUFT-TV and the school radio station WUFT-FM, I knew I made the right choice. I graduated in 2007 with a Telecommunication degree and was fortunate to land a job that kept me in sunny Florida. I spent two years as a reporter at Panama City’s WJHG, before moving to Tampa/St. Petersburg to report for Bay News 9.

I love Florida, but in September 2011 a visit to San Diego inspired a change! One year later, I am incredibly blessed by God to be at Fox 5 doing what I love.

A little more about me: I grew up in Maryland on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay, making me a lover of blue crabs, the Orioles and the Ravens.

One of my favorite things to do is travel. A few years ago, I set a goal to see three new cities every year and so far, so good! If I ever win the lottery I will head to the airport and catch the first plane leaving, no matter where it’s headed.

Feel free to send me a story idea, a tip on a must-visit San Diego spot or just a note to say “hi!”

What’s on your iPod?
A huge mix of music, but lots of country. I also have every album from my favorite band, Lifehouse.

Which professional sport would you play and why?
I would love to be an Olympic gymnast. I’ve enjoyed watching them since I was a child.

If you were not in TV news, what profession would you choose?
I would do some type of job that involved animals… maybe veterinarian or education at a zoo.

What’s something that no one knows about you?
Few people know I was in 4-H when I was young and raised a goat and rabbits that I showed at state and county fairs.

Dinner for 5, who would you invite? (Dead or alive)
My late grandfather Robert Cox (He passed away when I was a child)
