6.3 magnitude quake shakes Gulf of California

LORETO, Mexico – An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 hit Baja California Friday morning.

The moderate quake struck at 8:38 a.m. It was centered in the Gulf of California about 48 miles northeast of Loreto, Mexico.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries and authorities said the quake posed no tsunami danger.
