Body found in Encanto prompts homicide investigation

SAN DIEGO -- A homicide investigation was underway in the Encanto neighborhood of San Diego Saturday after police found a woman dead under suspicious circumstances.

A man and woman who were walking their dog found the unidentified woman's body around 2:30 p.m. in a ravine near the 500 block of S. 66th Street, according to San Diego police.

Investigators were working to determine whether the body was related to reports of gunshots in the area Friday.

The medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
