LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Lifeguards are responding Friday night to Torrey Pines State Beach, where a group of eight people became trapped on rocks due to high tide after hiking down a cliff.

Just before 9 p.m., one of the hikers called 911 for help.

Lifeguards told FOX 5 they will wait two hours for the tide to recede, then escort the hikers out of the area to safety.
