Pursuit suspect crashes after making U-turn on freeway

SAN DIEGO – A driver was arrested early Monday after leading law enforcement officers on a chase from La Mesa that ended in a crash in National City, authorities said.

La Mesa police officers attempted to pull over a speeding black Honda Accord on westbound state Route 94 near College Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m., but the driver continued into San Diego, where California Highway Patrol took over the chase.

The driver eventually transitioned onto Interstate 805 and headed south into National City, according to the CHP. The car crashed shortly after passing South 47th Street and the driver was taken into custody, the CHP reported.
