SAN DIEGO -- A 27-year-old man was injured Wednesday while crossing a street in Colina Del Sol when he was struck by a car driven by a woman who fled the scene and was arrested.

The hit-and-run crash occurred at 8:24 p.m. in the 5000 block of El Cajon Boulevard, said Sgt. Michael Tansey of the San Diego Police Department.

The man was crossing El Cajon Boulevard outside of the crosswalk from the southeast corner of 50th Street to the northeast corner, Tansey said.

The 43-year-old driver was in a gold Toyota Corolla going west in the No. 1 lane of El Cajon Boulevard when the car struck the man, causing him to go up on the hood and strike the windshield of the car, Tansey said.

The woman continued west on El Cajon Boulevard and then turned right onto Winona Avenue where she struck two parked vehicles, Tansey said. She left her vehicle after it became disabled and was found a short distance from it and was arrested.

The man sustained multiple head injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, Tansey said.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
