SAN DIEGO -- A 66-year-old woman with dementia who was reported missing from San Diego turned up safely Tuesday in Mexico, police said.

Rosa Castellanos was located about midnight in Tijuana and is being returned to San Diego by family, said Sgt. Peter Brown of the San Diego Police Department.

Castellanos, who was last seen Friday when she walked away from her home near Del Sol and Dennery roads, appeared to be safe and unharmed, Brown said.

Facebook posts about Castellanos being a missing person led the family to locate her in Tijuana, Brown said, but details of her 3-day odyssey were not immediately known.
