SAN DIEGO -- An 80-year-old San Diego man who was struck by a minivan and killed Thursday while crossing a street in Rancho Penasquitos was identified Saturday by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Gam Fee Lee was struck at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard and Calle de las Rosas, according to Sgt. Michael Tansey of the San Diego Police Department.

Lee was walking across Rancho Penasquitos in a marked crosswalk when a 60-year-old woman driving a Honda Odyssey at about 40-45 mph in the northbound No. 1 lane of Rancho Penasquitos struck him, Tansey said.

The woman had a green traffic signal as she approached the intersection, Tansey said.

Lee was taken by paramedics to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he died of his injuries.

The woman stopped, called 911 and remained at the scene until paramedics arrived. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, Tansey said.
