A car parked along Highway 101 across from the San Elijo State Beach campground was stolen on Monday, San Diego County Sheriff's Department officials said. It was ditched nearby, but a bunch of items were gone, including two surfboards, an iPad and $500 in cash.

The suspect also stole a credit card and charged $3000 worth of merchandise on it, investigators said.

A couple pictures of the alleged thief were released by law enforcement.

Investigators hope someone recognizes the suspect and calls them.

People who park along Highway 101, where the vehicle was stolen, said it's been happening a lot lately.

"Had a friend at work who came to surf a few weeks ago and he parked his car went down to surf and his car was gone," said resident Susan Taylor.
