SAN DIEGO – Border Patrol agents seized more than a ton of marijuana from an abandoned boat near San Clemente, authorities announced Wednesday.

California State Park Rangers first found the 25-foot Bayliner as it was in the process of washing ashore at Calafia State Park Monday around 3 p.m.  When they boarded the boat, they found 82 bundles of marijuana stashed in black plastic bags located beneath the bow and on the deck, according to Mary Beth Caston spokeswoman for the U.S. Border Patrol.

The bundles weighed 2411.86 pounds and had an estimated street value of $1,205,930, according to Caston.

Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol seized the abandoned boat and narcotics.
