The unidentified shooter, who appeared to be about 16, opened fire in the 400 block of 32nd Street shortly before noon, according to San Diego police. He fled to the south in black four-door car, possibly a Ford Focus or Honda Accord, Sgt. Ray Battrick said.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound, the sergeant said.
The assailant was described as a roughly 5-foot-6-inch youth with “spiky'' black hair. He was wearing black pants and a black hooded jacket.
It was unclear what led to the gunfire.
