SAN DIEGO — A wind advisory is in effect until Friday afternoon in some eastern parts of the San Diego County mountain areas, according to the National Weather Service, but a red flag warning that had been issued for the weekend has been cancelled.

Updated atmospheric models showing offshore winds were diminishing and that vegetation moisture levels “remain sufficiently high,” prompted the cancellation of the red flag warning, the NWS reported.

Wildfire risks in areas to the north, however, remain elevated. A red flag  warning signifying critical combustion hazards will be in effect through this afternoon in inland areas in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
