Man injured after 2 jet skis collide

CARLSBAD — A 47-year-old Fontana man was hospitalized with major head injuries after two personal watercraft collided on the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad, police said.

Officers were called to the a section of the estuary off the southern terminus of Harrison Street shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday after the two rented wastercraft collided, Carlsbad police Sgt. Mike Larson said.

The injured man, who was not identified by police, was taken by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. The other watercraft operator was not identified and his condition was not released.

Officers have not yet determined of alcohol was a factor in the collision or who was at fault, Larson said.

No other injuries were reported.
