Woman hit by car in Little Italy dies

SAN DIEGO — A 59-year-old woman who was hit by a car while attempting to walk across a street in Little Italy a week ago has died, authorities said Thursday.

Meifeng Trainham of San Diego was struck by a westbound Toyota Prius at the intersection of Date Street and Kettner Boulevard on the night of Sept. 22, according to San Diego police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver remained at the scene and was not suspected of being under the influence, police said.

Trainham suffered a broken pelvis and blunt force head trauma in the crash, but her injuries were not initially considered life-threatening. She died in a hospital late Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. The cause of death was listed as blunt-force head trauma.
