Motorcyclist killed trying to outrun police

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A motorcyclist who was killed when he rear-ended a truck while attempting to evade police was publicly identified Monday by the medical examiner’s office.

Carlos Antonio Sanchez, 47, of Chula Vista was seen driving erratically and the wrong way on Hunte Parkway, at 9:40 p.m. Friday, when officers attempted to pull him over, according to police.

Sanchez continued west onto Otay Lakes Road at a high rate of speed. As he approached state Route 125 overpass, he crashed into the rear of a truck, was ejected from his bike and hit a tree in the 2000 block of Otay Lakes Road, according to the medical examiner’s office.

He was declared dead at the scene at about 10:15 p.m. by paramedics who tried to revive him.
