SAN DIEGO – Trolley service around Qualcomm Stadium was shut down for an hour Sunday afternoon due to a police investigation.

San Diego police confirmed they were investigating a suspicious package found at Qualcomm Stadium trolley station after receiving a call around 2:30 p.m.

SDPD released an update at 3:49 p.m. stating the scene was clear after the "package was determined to be safe and not a device."

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System halted their service through the Mission Valley area to allow officers to investigate. People needing the trolley service were being placed on buses.

The trolley returned to service before the end of the third quarter of the Chargers - Jaguars game.
