IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. — Last Friday, 18-year-old Desteny Hernandez’s body was found on a baseball field along a highway south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to the medical examiner in Tijuana, Hernandez had been shot seven times and was identified by tattoos on her arms.

The last time anyone heard from her was on September 7, when she sent a text to a friend saying she had met some guys in a club and was going to head out with them.

Later, she sent another text saying the guys were a little strange and was going to head home. Two days later, her body was found.

“I don’t know nothing about that right now,” said Francisco Hernandez, Desteny’s brother, when asked about the police investigation.

Tijuana police have said they are in the process of trying to figure out who killed Hernandez.
