San Diego police investigators said Mitchell was struck by three separate cars in the 7600 block of Linda Vista Road and none of the drivers pulled over to help.
"I've never heard of anything like this and not one person to come forward, it's just mind-boggling," said La'Toya Jackson, Mitchell's daughter.
Jackson, family and friends gathered Wednesday night near the spot where Mitchell was killed to stage a small vigil.
"We just want justice, we want someone to come forward. We loved my mom," Jackson said.
Late Wednesday, SDPD investigators said they may have identified one of the cars involved in the hit and run crash. Investigators are asking people to be on the lookout for an early 1980s Toyota Camry with damage to its hood and windshield. A color of the suspect's vehicle was unknown.
On Monday, police described the three vehicles as a dark colored sedan, full-sized pickup with camper and red sedan.
